We observed 21 experienced crawlers longitudinally every three weeks from 10.5 months to 15 months of age, during which all but one infant turned to walkers in a total of 7 sessions. In each session, we encouraged infants to crawl or walk over a walkway that was either solid or has a deformable foam pit in the middle on multiple, back-to back trials.
