VPRS 16056 Council's Amalgamation Proposal Records

These records were accumulated by the City of Fitzroy in the process of weighing up the pros and cons of amalgamation. Consideration of council boundaries had been on the agenda of the State Government for several years (including a proposal to bring in a bill for the creation of a Greater Melbourne Council).The files contained correspondence, newspaper clippings and other material that documented the various proposals and responses (including reports) in relation to proposed council amalgamations.
