Brazil: football fandom distribution 2020, by type

According to a survey carried out in January 2020, the largest share of Brazil's soccer fanbase was composed by FOMO followers, meaning fans who are interested in this sport because of their friends. Main Eventers constituted the second largest group of the Brazilian soccer fandom, with a share of 19 percent of respondents. This type of fan follows soccer only in major events or tournaments. In the same study, almost eight out of ten Brazilians interviewed were in some way interested in soccer.
