资源简介:

Scope of regional gross domestic product Region by industry estimates for March years 2000-2022 Regional GDP industry estimates for 2000 to 2022 are based on balanced national industry data from National accounts (industry production and investment): Year ended March 2022. The industry data for this period has been “balanced” using the national accounting supply-use framework. For most industries, unit-level financial data has been utilised to aggregate to a national total (known as the “bottom-up” approach). For regional GDP these same sources are used and matched to geographic information also available at unit-level, allowing us to allocate national industry GDP figures to regions. The use of firm-level data to apply “bottom-up” methods follows international best-practice and provides the strongest source of regional data for most industries. For more information, see Regional gross domestic product: General information. Provisional estimates for the year The unit-level data sources noted above that are used to compile the national and regional industry estimates are not available for the provisional year. We therefore use other data sources that provide a regional dimension to derive industry provisional estimates that are aggregated into regional-level GDP totals. We do not regard these figures as being of the same quality as the pre-2023 balanced years, therefore we provide provisional estimates only for the region totals. The effects of cyclones and flooding to regional GDP’s provisional estimate The March 2023 year includes the period when New Zealand was affected by torrential rains and tropical cycle Gabrielle in late January and mid-February. The impact has been captured in the provisional estimates for March 2023 year. However, as with previous provisional estimates, only region totals are available in this release. The industry breakdown by region will be available in the March 2025 release of regional GDP. Please see Impacts of cyclones and flooding on economic statistics in Aotearoa New Zealand: Conceptual and measurement methods, 2023. Data updates We incorporated improvements and updates to national industry totals published in November 2023. These changes affect the national totals that are allocated to regions. See 2023 national accounts improvements preview for more information. We updated regional allocation proportions with new input data, which includes updated annual enterprise survey data and LEED. These updates affect the proportional allocation to regions. This release also reflects the effects of changes to the business register and population estimates. We aligned the meshblock pattern and geographies from 2007 with 2023 Census geographic patterns. We also incorporated changes to the subnational population estimates from 2020 to 2022. en-NZ
