2024年、世界で最も危険な都市として挙げられたメキシコのコリマにおける殺人事件発生件数は、同市の人口10万人当たりで約140件でした。世界で最も殺人事件の多い10都市のうち7都市がメキシコにあります。このランキングには、紛争・戦争が続いている国は含まれていません。 
殺人件数が群を抜く中南米地域 
マンデラ・ベイを除けば、ランキング入りしたすべての都市が中南米に位置します。さらに、中南米の国々は、世界で最も危険な国のランキングでも上位を占めています。中南米で凶悪犯罪が横行する要因としては、麻薬や武器の密売、ギャングの抗争などがあります。

Seven out of the ten cities with the highest number of homicides in the world are located in Mexico. This ranking does not include countries with ongoing conflicts or wars. The region of South America, excluding Mandela Bay, hosts all the cities that made it into the ranking. Furthermore, South American countries also occupy the top positions in the ranking of the world's most dangerous countries. The factors contributing to the prevalence of violent crimes in South America include the illegal trade of drugs and weapons, gang conflicts, and other such activities. In South Africa, the only city from outside South America to make it into the top ten most dangerous cities is Mandela Bay. The country is grappling with significant social disparities, which are a problem. High crime rates and frequent power outages are impacting the country's economy, exacerbating unemployment and poverty.
