Iceland Survey Round 1 (2010)

We conducted an original survey of Icelandic public opinion following the first ?Icesave? referendum held on March 6, 2010. Topics include voting behavior in both the referendum and prior general election; subjective economic status/concerns; national versus European identity; attitudes towards other countries and the European Union (EU); media usage; general questions about political interest, knowledge, ideology, party affiliation, government approval, etc.; and sociodemographics. <br><br>The survey was administered by the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) of the University of Iceland via computer-assisted telephone interviews to a nationally representative sample of adults 18 years or older drawn from the Icelandic national register. Given the lopsided nature of the referendum outcome (fewer than 2% voted yes), we asked SSRI to oversample the yes votes. They telephoned 1505 individuals, of which 877 agreed to participate.<br>
