Local business websites in five Portuguese municipalities: an open-data and automated measurement of availability and technical quality (2026)

We listed 2851 businesses mapped in OpenStreetMap across Mafra, Sintra, Torres Vedras, Lourinhã and Sobral de Monte Agraço (map snapshot of 2026-07-15). 447 had a website address on the map, and we measured the 295 sites that did not block automated requests on 27 September 2026. 79% opened. Among those, 96% used HTTPS and 97% declared a mobile viewport, while 30% named their locality in the page title and 14% carried structured local business data. Median laboratory Largest Contentful Paint was 10.4 s, and 7% of the 241 sites with a reading reached 2.5 s or less. OpenStreetMap does not say whether a business has a website, so this work reports no share of businesses without a site. The five municipalities are a pilot and do not represent Portugal.
