Digital Economy, Agricultural Value Chain Resilience, and China's Cotton Industry: ‎Evidence from Provincial Panel Data, 2011 to 2023‎

This dataset supports the study “Digital Economy, Agricultural Value Chain Resilience, and China’s Cotton Industry: Evidence from Provincial Panel Data, 2011 to 2023.” The dataset contains processed annual provincial panel data for 16 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2023, comprising 208 province-year observations. The provinces represent major cotton-producing regions, pure-cotton-yarn production areas, and textile and garment industry concentration areas. The Excel workbook contains three worksheets: 1. TOC: Component indicators used to construct the cotton industry chain resilience index, covering secure development, anti-risk capability, recovery and adaptation, and renewal and transformation. 2. Dige: Nineteen component indicators used to measure regional digital economy development across digital infrastructure, digital industrialization, and industrial digitalization. 3. Other Variables: Control, mediating, moderating, and instrumental variables used in the empirical analysis, including population density, government support, consumption level, foreign direct investment, policy coordination variables, industrial structure upgrading, and instrumental variables. The dataset covers aggregate provincial statistics and contains no personal or individually identifiable information. Users should consult the associated manuscript for variable definitions, index-construction procedures, data sources, and empirical specifications. Note: The workbook contains the processed component indicators and supporting variables. Any remaining source-level missing values and the construction of composite indices should be handled consistently with the procedures described in the associated manuscript.
