Influenza A virus polymerase function

Studies on a synonymously recoded influenza A segment revealed a propensity for the viral polymerase to slip on homopolymer A- or U- tracts within a segment. This was discovered and characterised using the Sanger sequencing, illumina amplicon sequencing and nanopore amplicon sequencing datasets in this submission. This has broader relevance in better defining polymerase activity and may also relate to the generation of polybasic cleavage sites.
