Merged 2DVD–MPS Raindrop Size Distribution Dataset from Incheon, South Korea, during the East Asian Summer Monsoon (2023–2025)
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains merged raindrop size distributions (DSDs) collected at Incheon Airport Site 1 (ICA), South Korea (37.4941°N, 126.4541°E; 34 m above mean sea level), during the 2023–2025 observation period. The analyses associated with this dataset focus on the East Asian summer monsoon season (June–September), including Changma frontal rainfall and post-monsoon convective events. Each DSD combines measurements from two co-located instruments: a Meteorological Particle Spectrometer (MPS), which provides accurate observations of small raindrops, and a Two-Dimensional Video Disdrometer (2DVD), which provides reliable measurements of medium and large raindrops. Number concentrations were computed at a temporal resolution of 3 minutes (Δt = 180 s). The merged DSDs were generated using a diameter-dependent weighting scheme. The MPS spectrum was used for diameters smaller than 0.70 mm, the 2DVD spectrum for diameters larger than 1.20 mm, and a weighted average was applied within the overlap region (0.70–1.20 mm) to ensure a smooth transition between instruments. The 2DVD drop-by-drop observations were quality-controlled by removing particles whose measured fall velocities differed by more than 40% from the Atlas et al. (1973) diameter–velocity relationship. This dataset corresponds to the merged DSD product used in the associated study and is provided to ensure the reproducibility of the analyses presented in the publication. It contains the merged raindrop size distributions from the Korean (monsoon) site used to infer and evaluate the Fokker–Planck operator; the associated study compares these dynamics against a separate continental record.
