Draft Genome of Pterocarpus santalinus (Red Sanders)

Pterocarpus santalinus Linn. f., popularly known as Red Sanders is a deciduous tree, endemic to Southern parts of Eastern Ghats in India. A high quality draft genome was assembled using reads generated from Oxford Nanopore Technologies and Illumina sequencing. The genome size was estimated at 627.01 Mb with 99.60% genome completeness. A total of 51,713 consensus gene set was predicted and 31,437 genes were annotated using public databases. The study will facilitate population divergence studies, provide valuable resource to understand endemism and aid in development of diagnostic tool for timber forensics.
