CP violation search on B0 -> K*0 mu+ mu- decays at LHCb

This thesis presents a study in experimental particle physics. The study makes use of the data taken by the LHCb detector using the proton-proton collision beams at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The study is aimed at searching for CP violation and New Physics in the semileptonic B meson penguin decay. This is achieved by extracting physics model parameters from the data by performing a likelihood fit, and then comparing the results with the Standard Model predictions.
