Oxidative stress and inflammation are tightly interconnected physiological processes. The transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a master regulator of redox homeostasis and anti-inflammatory responses. Given the limitations of current electrophilic Nrf2 activators, such as off-target effects, there is a need for selective peptide-based modulators. This study evaluates the potential of innate defense regulator (IDR) peptides, specifically IDR-1002, to activate Nrf2 signaling and its downstream antioxidant effects while mitigating inflammation in endothelial cell models.
