This study used q20 chemistry nanopore long read sequencing to provide completely (or almost completely) assembled accurate sequences of bacterial chromosomes and their plasmids. The study was on isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxtyoca complex, Enterobacter cloacae complex, Citrobacter freundii, Escherichia coli and Acinetobacter baumannii, many of which carried carbapenemase genes in plasmids. This work provided a means of investigating and comparing plasmids in recent isolates of these opportunistic pathogens from hospitals in the United Kingdom.
