Agromonas oligotrophica S58 is a nitrogen-fixing oligotrophic bacterium, which was isolated from paddy field soil. Agromonas oligotrophica S58 is phylogenetically close to Bradyrhizobium sp. ORS278 and BTAi1, which possess the ability to form stem and root nodules on some Aeschynomene species (e.g. A. indica) without Nod-factors. Genome comparisons among S58, ORS278 and BTAi1 would be helpful to elucidate the nod-independent symbiotic mechanism
