Reef manta ray state-space modelled satellite tracking data

This dataset contains state-space modelled satellite tracking data for reef manta rays (Mobula alfredi) used in Trevail et al. (in press), Journal of Applied Ecology. Between 2015 and 2024, 23 manta rays (12 adults, 8 juveniles, 5 unknown maturity) were tracked within their foraging grounds using towed Argos satellite tags (5 SPOT-253C, 8 SPOT-253G, 10 SPLASH10-F Fastloc®, Wildlife Computers). To correct location errors and regularise positions in raw Argos position estimates, a 5- and 6-hour time step hierarchical Bayesian state-space model (hDCRW) was applied using the bsam R package with MCMC sampling via JAGS (Jonsen et al., 2013).
