COMPUTATIONAL MODELS FOR EVALUATING THE STRENGTHENED-DEFORMED STATE OF THE SURFACE LAYER OF PARTS DURING SURFACE PLASTIC DEFORMATION

High requirements are imposed on the quality of machined surfaces of most critical parts of machines and mechanisms (working element parts). Surface quality is determined by a set of geometric as well as physical-mechanical parameters, including surface roughness, strength and hardness, residual stresses, and dislocation density. The required surface layer quality of parts can be ensured through finishing-strengthening treatments, in particular, surface plastic deformation (SPD). This type of mechanical treatment is the simplest and most effective method of deformation strengthening, and it has proven its effectiveness, which is why it is widely used in modern mechanical engineering.
