Besides its traditionally edible use, Laminaria japonica is widely used in food processing and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A bulk of studies revealed the beneficial effects of several edible algae, little information was known about the effects of L. japonica on obesity outcomes. We aim to evaluate how L. japonica impacts on host physiology, such as lipid metabolism and inflammatory biomarkers in high-fat diet-fed mice, and to reveal the possible mechanism of the impacts with microbiome-metabolomics method.
