资源简介:
Iceplant (Carpobrotus edulis) has become a highly invasive plant species in coastal areas with Mediterranean climate, forming large monospecific zones that compete for resources with native plant species, including threatened or endangered species. This map depicts iceplant locations along the Santa Barbara County coast in California, USA. Following NOAA specifications for coastal zones, this map encompasses the zone within a 1000-yard buffer inland from the coastline. The map was created by doing a per-pixel classification of images from the 2020 National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) archive via a random forest classification model (see: bit.ly/iceplant-detection-santa-barbara). The map has four classes: iceplant, other vegetation, low NDVI, and high NDWI, at a resolution of 0.6 m/pixel. The low NDVI and high NDWI classes were combined into a single non-vegetation class for the accuracy assessment. The overall accuracy of the map is 87.11% ± 2.44% (95% confidence interval). The producer's accuracies for each class were 86.42% ± 16.15% for iceplant, 81.78% ± 3.92% for other vegetation, and 90.79% ± 2.39% for non-vegetation. The user's accuracies for each class were 88.51% ± 3.62% for iceplant, 85.47% ± 4.05% for other vegetation, and 88.11% ± 3.14% for non-vegetation. The map is split into three non-overlapping rasters to optimize storage. This map aims to provide a detailed understanding of the location and area occupied by invasive iceplant to inform environmental management and restoration decisions and provide the first open, extensive assessment of this invasive species within the Santa Barbara County coast.
