Perceptions of EU crisis management.<br>Topics: awareness of selected EU efforts in responding to cross-border crises: respondent has directly benefited from EU support in response to a major crisis, respondent knows of concrete examples how the EU has helped people or countries in times of crisis, awareness that the EU is involved in dealing with crises without knowing the exact way, no awareness; assumed effectiveness of selected EU measures to respond to an assumed major crisis in the own country and surrounding countries: managing health emergencies, providing relief for large natural disasters, dealing with the impact on the EU of violent conflicts; preferred level of action (EU, both EU and national, national) with regard to the following aspects of an assumed crisis in the own country: forecasting and anticipating potential major crises, preventing and reducing the impact of major crises by developing early warning systems as well as EU-level emergency stocks and teams ready to respond, leading the cross-border coordinated response, arranging the recovery and restoring normal life in the aftermath; attitude towards the following statements: EU should be more involved in preparedness efforts for future crises, EU should play a more active role in providing timely information and guidance to citizens in addition to communication by national authorities, EU is better prepared to deal with a major crisis than five years ago, EU should be provided with the necessary resources to anticipate and respond to major crises even if this means slightly reducing EU funding in other areas, national and EU level crisis response would be better supported by scientific evidence-based advice provided by a commonly agreed group of the EU; trust in the national government.
