GNPS - Thapsia Chemical Defense

Two-year-old Thapsia garganica plants were purchased from ThapsIbiza S.L. in 2014 and grown in the greenhouses of the Botanical Gardens, Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the time of sampling, the plants were four years old. Six plants were dug up and sampled whole at midday, to obtain a representative specialised metabolite profile. At 48 hours prior to sampling, three plants had their leaves clipped (15 on each stem) to mimic herbivory, while the others served as negative controls. Individuals were photographed and labelled and samples from different tissues above and below ground were taken (one full 2mL tube). All samples were snap frozen in liquid nitrogen and kept on dry ice before being stored at -20C.
