The 143rd clause of Act 48 Vict. no.18 reads: "The Minister may direct a survey of the boundaries of any pastoral or homestead lease and upon such survey being made may demand from the lessee towards defraying the cost of such survey payment of any sum not exceeding twenty shillings for each linear mile of the boundary so surveyed and in default of payment of such sum within sixty days after notification of the demand in the Gazette the lease shall be liable to forfeiture."
