Needs in English listening and speaking skills of Thai jewelry designers

The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs in English listening and speaking skills of Thai jewelry designers. The data were collected from 47 Thai jewelry designer through a close-ended and open-ended questionnaire. The findings revealed that English listening and speaking skills were necessary for the jewelry designers. The study has also shown that listening and speaking skills are essential to developing their career paths in order to have more job opportunities. This study created understanding about their needs in different situations in English listening and speaking skills to communicate with their boss and clients. This study could provide valuable information that can assist the jewelry course designer in university or the trainer team of the company in selecting appropriate materials and organizing effective training courses that meet the needs of the designers and designers would recognize that English proficiency is crucial and can improve their career prospects. Moreover, this study may allow students in the field of jewelry design to recognize the value of using language skills and will be able to acquire language skills in preparation for future employment.
