Constructing novel photogranule communities through bioaugmentation

Novel microbial communities of oxygenic photogranule were constructed by either adding known cyanobacterial strains to activated sludge to initiate hydrostatic photogranulation, or by adding methanotrophic strains to existing hydrodynamic photogranules. Time series, or start- and end-time samples were taken and sequenced. Where appropriate, samples consisted of individual photogranules. Per time point, several samples were often taken.
