Beclin 1 of megakaryocytic lineage cells is locally dispensable for platelet hemostasis but functions distally in bone homeostasis

Becn1 deficiency in the megakaryocytic lineage reduces sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), thus releasing testosterone into the blood and ultimately leading to increased bone mass and improved bone quality.
