Pilot ENCODE targeted sequencing of vertebrate genomic regions. Vertebrata

A component of the pilot ENCODE project involved generation of sequence information from a number of different genomes in order to extract the maximum amount of information about the human genome through comparative analysis. A total of 44 regions were defined and comparative genome sequencing was generated for various vertebrates. These data will help to develop and refine tools for comparing genomic sequences from multiple species and to identify additional genomes for whole genome sequencing.
