Effects of different additives on lignin degradation and heavy metal passivation during manure composting

As one of the main sources of agricultural waste, the degradation of lignin and the passivation of heavy metals Cd in poultry manure has attracted the attention of many scholars. However, the mechanism of lignin degradation and heavy metal passivation during composting under the influence of microorganisms has not been fully explored. In this study, we reported the effects of different treatments on fungal community structure during composting. The results showed that the addition of single fungal additive and combined fungal additive had a positive effect on lignin degrading fungal and could promote lignin degradation, while biochar treatment had a positive effect on the passivation of heavy metal Cd, improving the microbial resistance to Cd and promoting the passivation of Cd. In summary, our results shows that the combined addition of additive has a positive effect on lignin degradation and compost maturation, and biochar treatment has a positive effect on the passivation of heavy metal Cd, which is of great significance for the harmless treatment of poultry manure.
