Urbanization increases surface imperviousness and disturbes the natural water paths. Stormwater infiltration systems have been set up to favor groundwater recharge processes. A tpm gene meta-barcoding approach was used to investigate the genetic diversity of the microbiota observed in these systems. The tpm marker (encoding EC:2.1.1.67 which catalyzes the methylation of thiopurine drugs) enables a tracking of freshwater bacterial species and sub-species, including waterborne pathogens, among deep aquifers
