资源简介:
Artifacts and associated soil control samples from sites CA-SDI-19406, CA-SDI-12100, and CA-SDI-9824 from Camp Pendleton, California, were submitted for protein residue analysis. The samples consisted of washes from various groundstone tools, retouched flakes, and bedrock milling features. The floated light fractions from several column samples at these sites also were submitted for macrofloral analysis. A two-sigma calibrated age range of AD 1630–1910 and AD 1920–beyond 1950 was returned for shell from Site CA-SDI-19406. Nine shell radiocarbon dates from CA-SDI-1200 ranged from 7430–6980 Cal BP to 7350–6860 Cal BP, reflecting occupation during the Early Archaic (Milling Stone 1) horizon. Charred material from this site yielded dates of 4920 ± 30 BP and 390 ± 30 BP, while dates of 3890 ± 30 BP and 3450 ± 30 BP were returned for organic sediment. Site CA-SDI-9824 appears to represent a more recent occupation as evidenced by dates of 150 ± 30 BP and 130 ± 30 BP on charred material. A two-sigma calibrated age range of AD 1630–1910 and AD 1920–beyond 1950 also was returned for shell from this site. Protein residue analysis was used to determine plant and animal resources processed using the various artifacts, while macrofloral analysis was used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized at these sites.
