The planning domain, which is centered on the Cape Floristic Region (CFR), encompasses an extension of approximately 60 km beyond the boundaries of the CFR. This boundary incorporate Namaqualand, Tanqua Karoo, Great Karoo, etc, and is to accommodate processes that transcend the biophysical boundaries between the CFR and adjacent bioregions. The total planning domain covers an area of 122 590 km2. The method used to derive the boundary is unknown as it does not match the Cape_grid file. It seems though that the shape was derived from the area covered with the grid files.`
