National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension, 11th Annual Report, 2020

The information available from this webpage comes from the 11th National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension (NAPH). The NAPH sets out to measure the quality of care provided to people referred to pulmonary hypertension services in Great Britain.

__Making clinical audit data transparent__

In his transparency and open data letter to Cabinet Ministers on 7 July 2011, the Prime Minister made a commitment to make clinical audit data available from the national audits within the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme.

__What information is being made available?__

NAPH data for 2019-20 is available at PH centre level for:

* National Standards (all except Standards 11b, 14 and 15)
* Reference data

NAPH data for 2019-20 is available at Great Britain level for:

* National Standards (all except Standard 14)
* Survival analysis
* Reference data

NAPH data for 2019-20 is available at England and Wales level for:

* COVID-19 related mortality

These data do not list individual patient information nor do they contain any patient identifiable data.

__Using and interpreting the data__

Data from the NAPH should not be looked at in isolation when assessing standards of care.

__Accessing the data__

The data are being made available on the data.gov website. Each year a data file from the NAPH will be made available in CSV format. Hospitals are identified by name and their national code.

__What does the data cover?__

The audit looks at the following areas:

* The 15 National Standards
* Survival Analysis
* COVID-19 related mortality and COVID-19 experience
* Reference tables relating to patients and drug therapies

__What period does the data cover?__

This data covers the Pulmonary Hypertension standards and survival analysis from the 2019-20 NAPH for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020. Data is also available for previous audit years (2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 in the case of the National Standards, and in other cases, from 2009-10). This National Report was published on 21 January 2021.
