Finite-fault source model of the 2025 Kamchatka earthquake derived from GNSS coseismic offsets
收藏资源简介:

This dataset contains a rectangular finite-fault source model for the 29 July 2025 Kamchatka earthquake. The model represents the earthquake rupture as a set of rectangular subfaults arranged in four downdip rows and eight along-strike columns. Each subfault is described by its geographic position, upper and lower depth, dip angle, along-strike length, strike azimuth, rake angle, and slip amplitude.

The source model was obtained from the inversion of GNSS coseismic displacement data and is intended for geophysical interpretation, comparison with alternative finite-fault models, and tsunami-generation modelling through computation of coseismic seafloor deformation. The model can be used as input for Okada-type elastic dislocation calculations and for subsequent tsunami simulations.

The dataset includes the finite-fault model converted to a USGS-like parameter-file format, a table of subfault-center coordinates computed from the four geographic vertices of each rectangular element, and auxiliary information describing the original rectangular fault geometry. Slip values are given in centimetres. Seismic moment values, where provided, were computed using slip converted to metres and assuming a shear modulus of 30 GPa.

The finite-fault grid covers the Kamchatka subduction zone region, approximately between 48.66°N–53.86°N and 154.70°E–161.58°E. The dataset is provided to support reproducibility of the finite-fault inversion and independent validation of the resulting source model.
