Topics: Attitude to the USA and the USSR; changes in attitude to the
USA and the USSR; judgement on leading Western and Eastern politicians;
preference for an Eastern or Western orientation of the country;
perceived danger of war; judgement on the peace efforts of the USA and
the USSR; confidence in the USA as leading power of the West;
confidence in the NATO; leading nation in space research and in
military strength; attitude to stationing American troops in the
country; party preference and trade union membership. In the Federal
Republic the following questions were additionally asked: most
important problems of the country; assessment of the credibility of the
policy of the USA and the USSR; significance of NATO for European
security; necessity of a West German participation in NATO; assumed
gain in prestige of the USA or the USSR from the Paris summit
conference; country responsible for the failure of this conference;
preference for a tougher line by the Western powers to the USSR;
sympathy scale for CDU, SPD and FDP as well as for the prime minister
of the respective state as well as for Brandt, Strauss and Adenauer.

In Norway the following questions were additionally asked: attitude to
American Air Force bases in Norway; attitude to American surveillance
flights over the USSR.
