Potentially toxic elements in soils around the Perungudi dumpsite, Chennai: data and reproduction code (2022-2024)

Primary data, analytical quality-control records, exposure parameters and a single reproduction script for a study of eight potentially toxic elements in the soils around the Perungudi municipal solid waste dumpsite, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The elements are Fe, Mn, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr, Ni and As. Twenty-three stations were sampled in May and in October or November of 2022, 2023 and 2024, giving 138 samples. Elements were determined in the fraction finer than 63 microns by energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence. The deposit holds six data files: the 138-sample master table, station coordinates with geodesic distances to the dumpsite boundary, the batch-level analytical quality-control record, NIST SRM 2711a recoveries by campaign, the upper continental crust baseline, and the exposure-parameter set for the health-risk screening. A single script reproduces every derived quantity reported in the associated article and prints each against its published value; the current run reproduces 45 of 45 checked quantities within tolerance. The data files were also checked cell by cell against the article's tables, 292 values in all, and agree throughout. Coordinates are geographic decimal degrees on WGS 84 (EPSG:4326). Quantification is screening-level: a standardless fundamental-parameters routine was used without a matrix-matched calibration standard, and primary per-line instrument records survive for the October 2024 campaign only. Eighteen arsenic determinations fall below the 1.0 mg/kg detection limit and are retained unsubstituted, flagged in the data.
