Daily Upward Ocean Heat Flux Fields From the RAISE v1.0 Model for the Ross Sea Sector, April-October 2003-2022

This dataset contains daily upward ocean heat flux (OHF) fields from the Ross Sea and Amundsen Sea Ice-Ocean Model (RAISE v1.0) for the Ross Sea sector. The fields cover the Antarctic freezing season from 1 April to 31 October in each year from 2003 through 2022. The dataset was prepared to support the study "Oceanic Heat Flux Persistently Suppresses Ross Sea Polynya Ice Production: From Climatology to Event-Scale." In that study, the RAISE OHF fields were combined with satellite sea-ice concentration and ERA5 atmospheric forcing to quantify the effect of upward ocean heat supply on thermodynamic sea-ice production in the Ross Ice Shelf Polynya (RISP) and Terra Nova Bay Polynya (TNBP). RAISE is a regional, coupled ocean-sea-ice-ice-shelf model based on the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). The archived files contain model output rather than direct observations.
