Maize LH82 pollen DNA was extracted using an optimized commercial kit protocol and the addition of chloroform:isoamyl alcohol. The goal of this study was to test downstream applications of the extracted pollen DNA, such as 16S rRNA sequencing and microbiome analysis, to determine if the resulting DNA was of high quality. Reads were sequenced using PacBio technology by the Integrated Microbiome Resource (IMR), Dalhousie, Canada.
