Flash Flood Quick Response Surveys

The Flash Flood Quick Response Survey Data Collection is a multi year, multi event database that aims to improve understanding of how different factors interact to influence people’s perception of and response to flash flood threats. Post event surveys gather detailed data on how environmental conditions, warning information sources and channels, social cues, prior experience, vulnerability characteristics, and situational constraints combine to shape individual preparedness and protective action decisions as the hazard unfolds. Surveys were disseminated in collaboration with 12 participating National Weather Service Forecast Offices between 2022 – 2025 representing 23 flash flood events. A total of 2,468 surveys were collected. Data included in the collection: a) Survey Flow Chart, b) Codebook, c) Data Collection Results available in CSV, Stata, and SPSS formats (forthcoming), and a Data Collection Summary.
