The COOLCITY Index 2026 for 11,041 cities in the European Union

This database is one of the outputs of the Life COOLCITY project and contains the data used to develop the COOLCITY Index 2026 for European cities. It includes the city attributes presented on the COOLCITY website (https://coolcity.eu/en/index/2026/map/), as well as the indicators used to calculate the index. The database is provided in vector format and includes both point and polygon geometries. It contains demographic, climatic, physical-geographical, economic, and satellite-derived data, including remote-sensing indicators and indices describing climate-adaptation challenges. A detailed description of the database, its structure, and its contents is provided in the following file: COOLCITY_Index_database_2026_v01_README.txt Funding The LIFECOOLCITY project, entitled “Use of Remote Sensing for the Management of Blue-Green Infrastructure in the Process of Urban Adaptation to Climate Change”, is implemented under the LIFE Programme, within the call LIFE-2023-SAP-CLIMA-CCA – Climate Change Adaptation, under grant agreement No. 101074553. The project is co-financed by the LIFE Programme and the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which jointly cover 95% of the project costs. The remaining 5% is contributed by the project consortium. The project is scheduled to run from 2023 to 2029.
