Silk-i-Sulûk This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1838 in the India Office collections. [metadata: Hermann Ethé, Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, 2 vols. (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1, number 651 here with notations and hyperlinks]. 1838 Silk-i-Sulûk (سلك سلوك). A comprehensive work on the various points of the Ṣûfic doctrine and the science of the mystic road, in 151 short chapters, styled سِلك, and composed by Ḍiyâ-aldîn Nakhshabî, the author of the older and larger version of the famous Ṭûṭînâma (see Nos. 743-751 in this Cat.), who died A.H. 751 (A.D. 1350, 1351). Beginning:حمدى كه از عطر روائح او ارواح اولياء معطّر گردد (و) مر احدى را كه اولياى اورا الخ. The first chapter begins, on fol. 3b, with an exposition of the technical terms of Ṣûfism. The work (which is styled both سلك سلوك and سلك السّلوك) is mentioned as one of the authorities of the مفتاح الجنان of Muḥammad Mujîr (bin?) Wajîh-aldîn (written about A.H. 770=A.D. 1368, 1369), see Rieu i. pp. 40 and 41. This copy is dated the 12th of Muḥarram, A.H. 1159 (the 28th year of Muḥammadshâh’s reign =A.D. 1746, Feb. 4).
