This project investigates the genomic characteristics of multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli isolates collected from clinical samples in Diyala Province, Iraq. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is used to identify antibiotic resistance genes, virulence factors, and genetic variations associated with pathogenicity and antimicrobial resistance. The generated genomic data will help improve understanding of the molecular epidemiology and evolution of resistant E. coli strains in the region. Such information is important for infection control strategies, antibiotic stewardship programs, and the development of effective treatment approaches for bacterial infections.
