Preliminary research on the relationship between the age of forest-forming tree species and seed quality

This dataset originates from a study investigating the influence of maternal tree age on the physiological and biochemical characteristics of European beech (<i>Fagus sylvatica</i> L.) seeds, with particular focus on the role of abscisic acid (ABA) — a key hormone regulating seed maturation, dormancy, and germination. The data include measurements of ABA content in seeds and expression levels of genes involved in the ABA signaling pathway, specifically <i>SnRK2</i> and <i>ABI5</i>. Seed samples were collected from trees representing different age classes across populations that varied in environmental conditions and masting intensity.
