Striatal astrocytes cocultured with mesencephalic neurons using cell insert were treated with methyl-L-DOPA (200 µM) or control vehicle for 4 h. The concentrations of L-DOPA, DA and DOPAC in striatal astrocytes were measured by HPLC assay. ND: not detected. Data (pmol/mg protein) are presented as mean ± SEM (n = 4). *p<0.001 vs. control group.
