Global electricity export value 2022, by leading country

Germany was the world's largest exporter of electricity in 2022, with over 18 billion U.S. dollars worth of electricity exports. This accounted for roughly 14 percent of global electricity exports that year. Germany's geographical location in Europe and the fact that the country has the greatest power plant capacity on the continent have led to a growth in its electricity exports. Neighboring France ranked second, with electricity exports totaling 11 billion U.S. dollars.
