Fungal pathogens represent a serious threat towards agriculture, human health, and environment. Control of fungal diseases on crops necessitates a global understanding of fungal pathogenicity determinants and their expression during infection. Genomes of phytopathogenic fungi often display a compartmentalization between the core genome containing housekeeping genes and the fast-evolving genome mainly containing transposable elements and species-specific genes, allowing them to rapidly adapt to new conditions. In this study, we analysed nucleosome landscapes on four phytopathogenic fungi with contrasted lifestyles and genome organisation to describe and compare nucleosome repartition patterns in relation with genome structure and gene expression level.
