Shrike egg morphology and clutch size dataset (1888–1973)

This dataset supports the manuscript “Egg morphology and clutch size in shrikes (Laniidae) from historical oological collections: interspecific patterns and modest temporal change”. It contains egg measurements, clutch-level summaries, and associated metadata for four shrike species (Lanius collurio, L. senator, L. minor, and L. excubitor) collected from historical oological collections spanning 1888–1973. Variables include egg length, egg width, shell weight, derived egg morphology traits, clutch size, year of collection, and locality or country information used in the analyses. The dataset was compiled from museum collections examined for comparative analyses of interspecific differences and temporal and spatial variation in reproductive traits.
