This study aims to explore the diversity and functional potential of quorum sensing (QS) genes in metagenomes derived from Indian deep-sea sediment samples. Focusing on psychrophilic microbial communities, the project employs the Quorum Sensing and Quenching Protein (QSP) database to identify QS-related genes, including signal synthases and receptors. By mining metagenomic datasets from cold, high-pressure marine environments, the study seeks to enhance our understanding of microbial communication mechanisms in extreme habitats. These insights are particularly relevant for discovering novel QS systems and potential quorum quenching candidates with applications in biotechnology and marine microbial ecology.
