Oral probiotics alter the healthy feline respiratory microbiota

Brief description: 16S rRNA gene amplicon libraries generated from rectal swabs,oropharyngeal swabs, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and peripheral blood collectedfrom six healthy research cats before and immediately after four week administrationof a standard probiotic (VSL3) were sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq platform. Thecontents of the probiotic were also processed and sequenced and changes in the relativeabundance of probiotic taxa were evaluated in the host samples listed above.
