Streptomyces noursei ATCC 11455 is known as a producer of a medically important antifungal antibiotic nystatin used to treat superficial fungal infections. Beside nystatin, this strain was shown to produce cycloheximide, albonoursin, and antibacterial glycosylated macrolide antibiotic of as yet unknown structure. The project intends to unravel the genome features and full biosynthetic potential of this organism.
