Birds observed in the Bunger Hills by Polish biologists during a summer expedition in 1989

Data derived from a report: "FILCEK, K. and ZIELINSKI, K. 1990. Report on the expedition of Polish biologists to Bunger Hills, East Antarctica, 1988/89. On page 165 of the report, it states: “Nests of south polar skua are also very dispersed, however the birds gathered at the station or, after freezing of lakes on the patch of open water at the outflow of Bystra Stream from the Figurnoe Lake. Up to ten individuals were counted at that time.” Figurnoe Lake in the Bunger Hills is officially called Algae Lake. Bystra is Polish for 'rapid stream' - refer to Place Name ID 16936.The dataset contains one point for the sighting of the ten south polar skuas as described in the Polish report: 'Nests of south polar skua are also very dispersed, however the birds gathered at the station or, after freezing of lakes on the patch of open water at the outflow of Bystra Stream from the Figurnoe Lake. Up to ten individuals were counted at that time.'The data have been compiled as a shapefile.
