Assessment of cure by benznidazole (Bz) and posaconazole (Ps), administered in monotherapy or concomitant combinations, in a murine model of Trypanosoma cruzi infection1.

1Swiss female (n = 10) weight 20 to 24 g were inoculated with 5×103 trypomastigotes (VL-10 strain).Treatment was initiated at 7th day after inoculation followed by 20 days and the drugs were administered orally. Benznidazole was given once daily and posaconazole administered twice a day (b.i.d.).2FBE – fresh blood examination performed before and after cyclophosphamide immunosuppression.3PCR assay was performed in the 1st and 6th month after treatment.
